Fall Nights and Hot Jazz!

The second concert of the Stetson University Jazz Ensemble’s season places all the focus on the group’s talented young musicians. Selections chosen for the evening range from Duke Ellington’s take on the traditional New Orleans jazz scene (Second Line) to the swinging sounds of the Count Basie Orchestra’s It’s Oh, So Nice. Additional selections include Johnny Mandel’s beautiful melody, A Time for Love, and Hoagy Carmichael’s The Nearness of You. But things heat up again as the band launches into more cutting-edge big band favorites such as Stan Kenton’s ever-popular Intermission Riff, Just in Time from the Buddy Rich Band, and Gordon Goodwin’s popular The Jazz Police. Come out and support our musicians as they continue to hone their skills in preparation for their performance at the national Jazz Education Network Conference in Dallas this coming January.
