The Stetson University Jazz Ensemble is proud to share the stage this evening with Florida’s own, Linda Cole, jazz vocalist extraordinaire. Performing selections that honor both the Great American Songbook as well as her family musical heritage, Linda will be backed by Stetson’s nineteen-member big band. A member of the Singing Cole Family, Central Florida’s Lady of Song continues to add to her many accomplishments: opening act for Bob Newhart and the London Symphony, the Temptations, Chuck Mangione, Spyro Gyra, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Richard Elliot, David Benoit and Vassar Clements, the Count Basie Orchestra, Terry Myers and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and the Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra. Joining Linda on the program will be Stetson student vocalist, Leia Schwartz.

In line with Linda’s own commitment to the legacy of jazz, the big band will also present its usual wide array of instrumental selections, including works by Don Menza, Benny Carter, Alan Baylock, and a special arrangement of “In the Mood” by Jeff Tyzik, as performed by Doc Severinson and the Tonight Show Band.
